UAW President Fain ‘Issues Warning To Democrats If They Don't Deliver’
Breana Noble at The Detroit News reports United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain has issued a warning following the Blue Tsunami of Democratic victories in the Mid-Term Election, calling for action or else they won't be re-elected. "People aren't voting Democrat right now because they believe in the platform," Fain said. "They're voting Democrat because they're pissed off because they've been left behind by bad policy. If they don't get serious, and if the Democratic Party doesn't understand why they were voted in, they're going to be one-term Congresspeople and one-term Legislators." The Detroit-based Union put large efforts behind the voter turnout and supporting its endorsed candidates, including Democrat Abdul El-Sayed for the closely-watched U.S. Senate seat from Michigan against Republican Mike Rogers. Fain highlighted that UAW Members made up the margin of victory in four key Michigan Congressional races it backed and 13 of 17 targeted State Legislative races. Nationally, Democrats secured majorities in both the House and Senate and the largest total in the Michigan State Legislature since 1978. "This election is a mandate for change, but it is up to the Democratic Party now to deliver," Fain said, "and if they don't deliver, we'll be the first ones to call them out on it."
