Two Week-Plus Strike ‘Forces New Contract’ For Union-Represented Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital Caregivers - Ratified Contract ‘Features Nearly 11% Wage Increases Over The Next Three Years’

Dave DeNatale and Tyler Carey at WKYC3 reports Union Caregivers employed at the Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital have announced they’ve ratified a new contract and are "preparing to return to the work they care deeply about" after a Strike that lasted just over two weeks. According to a press release from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) District 1199, the new agreement includes the following: Nearly 11% in wage increases over the next three years; An additional 50-cents-per-hour for Employees with six or more years of service; New certification pay; A ratification bonus; Increased shift differentials; Improved PTO (Paid Time Off) protections and benefits; Stronger protections for the Union's right to bargain throughout the life of the contract; Recognition and protections for religious holidays; and Many other workplace improvements. "Lutheran Hospital Workers showed tremendous courage throughout this fight," SEIU 1199 Officials said. "They stood together, sacrificed together and took on one of the largest and most powerful Health Care Systems in the country to demand a contract that better reflects the value of the work they do every day."
