(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – With the Mid-Term Elections less than 30 days away, National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler has released the following statement:

We are less than 30 days from Election Day and Working People around the country are ready to deliver victories for candidates who will fight for us!

Our polling shows that 83% of surveyed Union Members are “extremely motivated” to vote in the 2026 Mid-Terms - up 10 points from the 2022 election.

And it’s no surprise why.

The last two years have been marked by attack after attack on our hard-won contracts, critical public programs such as Medicare and Social Security, our Immigrant neighbors and more.

Prices have outpaced our paychecks six months in a row and wage growth is at a five-year low based on the most recent numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Americans have paid $123 billion more for gas and diesel this year, with diesel prices at a record high - now above $6.50 per gallon.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

The stakes have never been higher than they are in this election.

In less than four weeks, we have a real opportunity to elect a Pro-Worker majority that will start to level the playing field for everyday Americans.

And it’s going to be the Labor Movement’s people-powered field operations, Worker-to-Worker conversations and election protection programming that will deliver the real change that Working Families need.
