Chris Walls at Harrisonburg WHSV reports West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced a record-setting $15 million Federal Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) grant to expand college access and Workforce training for adult learners across the State. The funding, awarded to the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education, represents the largest single EOC award in the Nation. The grant will support programs at all nine Public Community and Technical Colleges Statewide. “This historic ($15 million) investment marks a transformative milestone for West Virginia’s Workforce and economy,” Morrisey said. “By connecting our residents directly to career training, industry-recognized credentials and higher education, we are removing barriers to employment and strengthening our State’s talent pipeline.” The initiative, known as WV READY Educational Opportunity Centers, will assist adults ages 19 and older, out-of-school youth, Veterans, low-income residents and first-generation college students. Services include one-on-one admissions coaching, financial literacy support, high school diploma and equivalency completion, and guidance toward Registered Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship Programs.
