Google DeepMind (GDM) Employees are using collective bargaining as a means of “establishing morals” at the Company in response to its “material support for Israel’s genocide” in Gaza - but now face “classic Union Busting” tactics from management. In May (2026), DeepMind Employees launched a Unionization bid to end use of the Firm’s technology by Israel and the U.S. Military, seeking to be recognized under the United Tech and Allied Workers (UTAW) - a National Branch of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and Unite the Union. Computer Weekly talked with multiple Google DeepMind Workers who shared concerns related to the Firms’ provision of Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to the Israeli Military, which they say have been used to support its genocide against the Palestinian People. However, Google so far has not responded well to the Union effort, with Workers telling Computer Weekly the Company has been trying to shut down or sideline internal opposition to the use of its technologies by Israeli Authorities.
