(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler has released the following statement with there now being 100 days before the Mid-Term Elections:

Every single part of our lives is political.

Even simple things - like the quality of the air our kids breathe, how many potholes we hit on our way to work and how long it takes to get to the doctor - are all directly impacted by who is in office and what their priorities are.

Right now, we have 56 days until early voting begins in some States.

The last two years have proven that none of the rights and freedoms we have can be taken for granted.

Our job security is political.

Our Union contracts and right to organize are political.

Our ability to afford groceries is political.

Which is why we are launching the strongest, baddest, single largest mid-term program that the Labor Movement has ever led.

There’s no denying that we’re up against a tough fight this year.

In the face of blatant attacks on our voting rights and heavy political spending from power-hungry billionaires, it’s going to take a big ground game to put Pro-Worker candidates into office.
