Houston City College Launches $17 Million Program ‘To Expand Apprenticeship Pathways For Students’

Ashley Soebroto at The Houston Chronicle reports Houston City College has received $17 million - its largest investment ever, to support career and technical education and get more high school students from across the region into Apprenticeships. Officials said the Gulf Coast TradeUp Careers initiative was designed to provide more support to students looking to join the workforce after graduation. It does that by strengthening Registered Apprenticeship pathways and expanding opportunities for employers to connect with students. The program will serve more than 1,350 career and technical education students in the Houston area over three years.
