(NEW YORK CITY) – Unionized Residential New York City Building Workers have overwhelmingly approved their historic new contract that covers 34,000 32BJ Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Members.
Union Officials said 94% voted in favor of the contract that wins a 15% increase to guaranteed pension, protects 100% employer-paid health care, and secures $4.50-an-hour wage increases while maintaining all existing benefits, including free legal services and training programs.
The contract was reached in April (2026) after months of negotiations with the Residential Real Estate Industry, averting a Strike that would have impacted the homes of 1.5 million New Yorkers.
