"With You” - The National AFL-CIO’s 30 Constitutional Convention Kicks Off Today In Minneapolis, Minnesota - “Our Solidarity Is Critical. Our Labor Built America And Our Unions Have Kept It Strong And Will Continue Pushing It Forward.”
(MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA) – Today (Sunday, June 7th), Union Delegates from across the country are gathering in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the National AFL-CIO’s 30th Constitutional Convention.
This quadrennial convening is an essential part of maintaining the Labor Movement’s foundational Democracy, Union Officials said.
National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said: “Our Federation’s strength is rooted in the diverse coalition of Working People who are a part of it. All (65) Affiliated Unions and every single one of our Members are part of our fight for a stronger economy and brighter future.”
In the three days following the start of convention, an array of workers, leaders and allies will address Union Delegates, who will also take part in panel discussions and training on crucial issues like Artificial Intelligence, Immigration, Organizing, Worker Safety and much more.
National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said: “We’re assembling as our country sits at a crossroads and the location of this year’s event holds an especially meaningful weight. We’ll do the work to define a Labor Movement agenda that empowers Working People, changes lives and builds an America that works for all of us. We’ll talk about what’s happening in Minnesota and how Labor and allies have come together to fight injustice and oppression, and to stand up for Working People. Our Union Siblings in Minneapolis and across Minnesota have been at the forefront of a nationwide fight against attacks on our communities. Their bravery and willingness to fight for what is right, even in the face of violence, represent what our Movement has always been about. We can’t do this work alone. That’s why the theme of our convention is ‘With You.’ Our solidarity is critical. We know the power Unions have to change lives. Our labor built America and our Unions have kept it strong and will continue pushing it forward.”
