University Of Missouri Librarians ‘Go Union,’ Join LiUNA

Librarians at the University of Missouri (UM) have voted to join LiUNA Local 955, a Union that represents a number of Public Employees in the Mid-Missouri area. “We are hopeful that the UM System voluntarily recognizes our Union and bargains in good faith,” Engineering Librarian Noël Kopriva said in a press release that added the Workers had filed with the State Board of Mediation in early December 2025. The Workers cited low wages - with some Library Information Specialists earning around $16-an-hour and others $18-an-hour, and the loss of benefits such as a sliding parking fee system and expanded leave.
