General Motors Announces New $1 Million Investment On National Skilled Trades Day
Johathan Lopez at GMAuthority.com reports General Motors (GM) has announced a new $1 million investment in support of workforce development as part of a broader effort to strengthen Skilled Trades careers across its U.S. operations and surrounding communities. The announcement was made in conjunction with National Skilled Trades Day, with the Automaker also highlighting the nearly $200 million it has invested over the past year to grow and modernize Skilled Trades roles, including investments into manufacturing, vehicle service, technical operations and design work. The latest commitment provides the Local Initiatives Support Corporation with a $1 million grant aimed at expanding the Bridges to Career Opportunities Program that provides hands-on training, career coaching and financial coaching for job seekers pursuing Skilled Trades careers. GM also recently added 90 Skilled Trades Apprentices to its various U.S. facilities, providing a four-year Apprenticeship Program that will mix formal coursework with practical training and supervised work alongside veteran Tradespeople.
