‘Could ‘The Federal Minimum Wage ‘Reach $25?’ - What To Know About The ‘Living Wage For All Act’
Chris Williams at Fox 5/New York reports that in Washington, D.C. a coalition of more than 100 Organized Labor, Civil Rights and Advocacy Groups is backing new Federal legislation to raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour. Democratic Lawmakers have introduced a Bill aimed at boosting pay nationwide and eliminating sub-minimum wages. U.S. Representative Delia Ramirez (Democrat-Illinois) and Representative Analilia Mejia (Democrat-New Jersey) introduced the Living Wage For All Act, legislation that would raise the Federal minimum wage to $25 per hour and eliminate sub-minimum wages. The Living Wage for All Coalition describes itself as a national campaign made up of more than 100 organizations advocating for a living wage for all Workers in the U.S. Among the most prominent groups backing the legislation are the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Another coalition member, One Fair Wage, is pushing for higher minimum wages nationwide. "This is a Worker-led movement that has grown from the ground-breaking Fight for ($15) into a nationwide push for a true living wage," One Fair Wage President Saru Jayaraman said.
