The USDOL Launches An AI Apprenticeship Skills Portal

Cris Tolomia at Quartz reports a new on-line resource for building Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills in the workplace is now available, after the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) unveiled the AI in Registered Apprenticeship Innovation Portal. Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling called the portal "a major step forward in preparing the American Workforce for the jobs of the future." Three categories of resources are available through the portal: Tools focused on AI skills and literacy within Registered Apprenticeship programs; Industry-specific AI skill-building content; and Guidance on incorporating AI into Apprenticeship Programs - both new and existing. Training modules have been tailored to specific industries, including education, finance, health care and advanced manufacturing, the USDOL said. Through the portal, businesses have the option of enrolling in a National Apprenticeship Program that is already established, standing up a new program centered on AI roles or retrofitting a current program to incorporate AI competencies.
