‘A Win for Working People Nationwide:’ Virginia AFL-CIO ‘Celebrates Passage’ Of Redistricting Referendum
The Virginia AFL-CIO is applauding the successful passage of the referendum to temporarily adopt new Congressional Districts in order to fight back against Donald Trump’s redistricting war. Virginia AFL-CIO President Doris Crouse-Mays issued the following statement: This is a win for Working People nationwide. Over the last year, the Trump Administration and his loyalists have attacked Union-powered clean energy projects, ripped up Federal Worker Collective Bargaining Agreements and given even more power to corrupt billionaires. It’s clear the White House is willing to do whatever it takes to maintain control of Congress, even if it means suppressing the voices of Working People. Virginians know that if Trump is allowed to continue to use his influence to redraw maps in his favor, we’re going to see more of the same Anti-Worker agenda that has already wreaked havoc on our jobs and communities. I am proud to say that Working People stood together and demanded an end to billionaires playing games with our Democracy.
