In Reno, Nevada: Laborers Local 169 Is Preparing Workers For A New Solar Project “That Will Bolster The Local Economy”

Noah Bond at KOLO-TV reports From Reno, Nevada that Laborers Local 169 is ramping up training efforts to prepare Workers for a major solar project near Yerington that will bring hundreds of jobs to the region. Local 169 is seeking between 200 and 300 Workers for the Libra Sol Project, a large-scale solar field spanning 4,000 acres. The positions offer $35.45 per hour - plus $6 in remote area pay. Workers can earn anywhere from $500 to $2,500 a week. “This is going to do great things for Northern Nevada and our local communities,” said Chase Rowe, Field Representative and Business Agent for Local 169. “(250, 300)-plus jobs for our local Laborers. The Town of Yerington is going to grow and expand.” The Building Trades Union has been preparing Workers through its Northern Nevada Apprenticeship and Training Program, which offers free classes to Members. The program has been putting on solar racking and pile driver classes to get Workers ready for the project.
