Nurses At Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center Look To Form A Union
Nurses at Rush University Medical Center have announced they’ve filed a petition for a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Union Election to join the National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United (NNOC/NNU). This is Chicago’s largest NLRB filing on record for a Union Election in the Health Care Sector and one of the largest in any industry in the City. “We are proud to work at Rush and give our patients excellent care,” said Dan Hurowitz, a Registered Nurse (RN) in General Medicine at Rush. “We know that by forming a Union with (the) National Nurses Organizing Committee, we can do even better for our patients.” Keeley Binion, an RN in Medical Observation at Rush, said: “We are so excited to file for a Union Election. Nurses are essential to patient care. We want to ensure that management prioritizes staffing and retention so we can give our patients the best care possible.”
