In Wayne County, IAM-Represented Workers Strike At The Garlock Sealing Technologies Manufacturing Plant ‘For Fair Wages & Better Working Conditions’

Dozens of Workers in Wayne County are on the picket line this week outside Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra after the Members of International Association of Machinists (IAM) Local 588 voted to Strike. The Union announced its Members are seeking “fair wages and better working conditions that better reflect the current cost of living and (their) hard work." The Strike follows months of negotiations between IAM and the company. "We just ask that you remember that these are the folks that live in this community, work in this community, and they'd like to be able to keep providing work to Garlock and keep it open another (140) years," said Mark Pankewytch, Business Representative for IAM's District 65. The same Union voted to Strike in November 2021, leading to approval of a new four-year contract.
