The University Of Pennsylvania Reaches Three New Tentative Agreements With Its Graduate Student Union Ahead Of Strike Deadline – However, Several Key Issues Remain Unresolved - Including Wage, Health Care Coverage & Transit And Parking Stipends

Luke Petersen and Cathy Sui at The Daily Pennsylvanian report that ahead of a Strike deadline on Tuesday (February 17th), the University of Pennsylvania and its Graduate Student Union (GET-UP) have come to tentative agreements on 26 proposals, including three this month. Since October 2024, the Union - the University and Graduate Employees Together-University of Pennsylvania, have met 45 times, bargaining on provisions over several issues: Compensation, International student Security and Workplace Protections. In November 2025, Graduate Workers voted to authorize a Strike if deemed necessary by the Union.  In the past month, the two parties reached tentative agreements on the issues of childcare, parental and medical leave, and support for International and Immigrant Workers. The Union and the University are meeting this week for the final bargaining session before the Strike deadline. Several key issues remain unresolved, including wage, health care coverage and transit and parking stipends.
