Striking NYSNA-Represented Nurses & New York City Hospitals ‘Reach Agreement To Maintain Health Benefits As Their Fight For Fair Contracts Continues’

(NEW YORK CITY) – New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA)-represented Nurses fought and cleared a major hurdle on one of the key sticking points in bargaining - maintaining health benefits for Front-Line Nurses and their families.

Working through Mediators, Mount Sinai and NewYork-Presbyterian have agreed to maintain the current high-quality NYSNA Plan A health coverage without cuts.

However, the Hospitals and NYSNA must still reach final tentative contract agreements.

Nurses at all four Hospitals are ready and willing to bargain in good faith on other priority issues to settle fair contracts whenever mediators call Union Negotiators back to the table, NYSNA said.

Nearly 15,000 Nurses continue to Strike until full tentative contract agreements are reached that protect patient and Nurse safety.

Due to the winter storm advisory, striking Nurses suspended picket lines on Sunday (January 25th) and today (Monday, January 26th).

Picketing is slated to resume on Tuesday (January 27th).

NYSNA - which represents more than 42,000 Members across the State, is New York’s largest Union and Professional Association for Registered Nurses (RNs).

NYSNA is an Affiliate of National Nurses United (NNU), the country's largest and fastest-growing Union and Professional Association of RNs, with more than 225,000 Members nationwide.
