Workforce Solutions For North Central PA Awarded $200,000 To Expand Manufacturing Apprenticeships

(HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA) - Workforce Solutions for North Central PA has been awarded $200,000 through the Pennsylvania State Department of Labor & Industry’s Supporting PA’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector Grant Program to expand Registered Apprenticeship opportunities across the region.

The funding will support the expansion of existing Apprenticeship Programs in key manufacturing industries, including powdered metals, carbon and graphite, machine shops, glass container manufacturing, and sawmills, serving Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, and Potter Counties.

“This investment allows us to build on the strong manufacturing base that already exists in North Central Pennsylvania,” said Pam Streich, who serves as the Executive Director of Workforce Solutions for North Central PA. “By expanding apprenticeship opportunities, we are helping employers develop the Skilled Workforce they need while creating clear, paid career pathways for local residents.”

Officials said the investment strengthens local workforce pipelines by helping employers train and retain Skilled Workers, while providing residents with access to paid, hands-on training and industry-recognized credentials that lead to family-sustaining careers.
