Nurses At St. Joseph Health In Texas ‘Vote Decisively To Go Union’ With National Nurses United - Nurses Said It Was ‘Critical’ They ‘Had A Say In Making Decisions’ Concerning Patient Care & With The Retention/Recruitment Of ‘Experienced’ Nurses
Registered Nurses (RNs) employed at St. Joseph Health in Brazos Valley, Texas are celebrating a powerful victory after voting to form a Union with National Nurses United (NNU). The Medical Facility is owned by CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest Catholic Health Care Systems in the Nation that generated $1.1 billion in profits in 2024. The Nurses cited concerns around lack of decision-making power in patient care and staffing and the need to recruit and retain experienced Nurses as core motivators for organizing. NNU will now represent some 750 RNs who work at St. Joseph Health Hospitals in Bryan and College Station, and three critical access facilities: St. Joseph Health Burleson Hospital in Caldwell, St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital in Navasota, and St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital in Madisonville.
