The Central Midwest Regional Council Of Carpenters Holds A Groundbreaking Ceremony For A New Apprenticeship Training Facility In Warsaw, Indiana
Lisa Green at The Journal Gazette reports the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new $15 million Apprenticeship Training Facility in Warsaw, Indiana. The new center will have 30,000 square feet in shop training space - with an additional 15,000 square feet for classrooms and offices, said Hannah Erwin, who serves as Director of Marketing for the Carpenters Union. An existing 25,000-square-foot center is at 1095 Mariners Drive in Warsaw. Governor Mike Braun attended the event, which the Union said represents its investment in current and future local Apprentices, local businesses and the State of Indiana. Demand for Construction Workers “is surging” across the U.S. with large infrastructure projects, housing developments and more, Union Officials said. The U.S. has more than 719,700 Apprentices this year, based on Indian State programs that submit information to a database (apprenticeship.gov). Indiana had nearly 23,450 this year and the average hourly wage was $20.23. The average starting salary after an Apprentice completes their training program is $80,000, according to the website.
