Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams Workers In Columbus, Ohio Move To Unionize With The UFCW
Amani Bayo at The Columbus Dispatch reports all eight Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams locations in Columbus have moved to Unionize, with 80 Workers filing a petition to join United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1059. According to a petition filed with the National Labor Relations Board, the Employees are seeking to Unionize "all Full-Time and Part-Time Team Leads and Ambassadors employed by Jeni’s in the Columbus Region," while excluding Clerical Staff, Guards, Managers and Supervisors. Local 1059 represents more than 18,000 Workers across Central and Southern Ohio, primarily in grocery stores, food production, retail and health care. The UFCW is one of the largest Labor Unions for Food and Retail Workers in the U.S.
