(SHELBYVILLE, INDIANA) – Workers employed at the Horseshoe Indianapolis Casino are on Strike as they demand recognition of Teamsters Local 135 as their Bargaining Representative.

The 200 Dealers and Dual Rates were scheduled to vote in their Union Election on Friday, October 17th, but the then U.S. Government shutdown caused it to be delayed indefinitely, so the prospective Teamsters proposed using a neutral third party to conduct the vote as planned.

Horseshoe’s management refused, forcing the group to Strike for Union recognition.

“Horseshoe Dealers and Dual Rates want and deserve the strong representation that Local (135) can provide them. We will not let Casino management stand in their way,” Local 135 President Dustin Roach said. “Horseshoe can end this Strike at this very moment by recognizing the Union that these hard-working Men and Women have fought so hard to join.”

Horseshoe Indianapolis - owned by the multi-billion-dollar Caesar’s Entertainment, raked in $336 million in revenue last year, making it the second highest-earning Casino in Indiana.

“Horseshoe is only delaying the inevitable by forcing these future Teamsters to the picket line,” said Tommy Blitsch, who serves as Director of the Teamsters Convention, Trade Show and Casino Division. “No matter how long they drag out this strike, it will end in the same way - with (200) Casino Workers getting strong Teamsters representation.”

Teamsters Local 135 represents more than 12,000 Members in over a dozen Teamsters Divisions.
