Fort Wayne, Indiana-Based Apprenticeship Training Provider To Share In A $1.2 Million Grant To Prepare Hoosiers For A Variety Of ‘In-Demand Careers’

Sherry Slater at The Journal Gazette reports a Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Apprenticeship Training Provider is one of 12 statewide chosen to share in a $1.2 million grant. The Region 8 Education Service Center, which serves the Northeast Indiana region, has been selected to be a liaison for students and schools participating in the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway. The new pathway will "prepare Hoosiers for in-demand careers and help Indiana businesses find and train employees." Student recruitment is scheduled to begin early next year for Apprenticeship positions that will begin in Fall 2026. Grant recipients will use the money to develop detailed plans for implementing the program in their regions. Their responsibilities will include recruiting high school students for Apprenticeships, supporting student and school success and interacting with Industry Talent Associations in six industries that have significant workforce needs: Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics; Banking; Construction; Health Care; Information Technology and Life Sciences. After their plans are finalized and approved early next year, each organization will receive additional money to make their plans a reality. In all, the organizations should receive $100,000 each, for a total of $1.2 million.
