Actors' Equity & The Broadway League Reach A Tentative Contract Agreement To ‘Avert’ A Strike That ‘Would Have Shut Down 32’ Stage Productions
Unionized Broadway Actors have reached a tentative contract agreement to avert a Strike that would shut down 32 stage productions as theater attendance approaches its peak season. Actors' Equity, which represents more than 51,000 Actors and Stage Managers, announced the tentative, three-year agreement with The Broadway League, the Trade Association that represents theater owners, producers and operators. Actors' Equity Executive Director Al Vincent, Jr., the lead Negotiator in the Union's negotiations with The Broadway League, said: "After a marathon mediation session, Equity and The Broadway League have reached a tentative agreement on the Production Contract. This three-year agreement saves the Equity-League Health Fund while also making strides in our other priorities including scheduling and physical therapy access. Now we will bring the deal to our members for ratification, and in the meantime, we are putting our full support behind American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Local (802) as they work with the (Broadway) League to reach a deal that averts a Strike (involving their Membership)."
