Kickstarter United Workers Are On Strike - Seek Wage Increases & Codifying A 32-Hour, Four-Day Workweek

Designers, Support Specialists, Product Managers and Engineers employed at Kickstarter - the popular crowdfunding platform, are on Strike in New York City. Khee Hoon Chan at Rascal News reports a majority of Members at Kickstarter United voted to authorize the Strike, which began on Thursday (October 2nd). Represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 153, Kickstarter United Members have been negotiating a new contract since April, with the Union proposing to enshrine Kickstarter’s four-day, 32-hour work week, as well as establish a minimum, livable salary in their agreement. Their existing contract expired in July. Workers also want Kickstarter to match their actions to their words by raising compensation for the lowest-paid Employees, who are often front-line support to Kickstarter's valuable community of backers and Creators.
