New IBEW/NECA Training Facility In Arkansas Will Provide Apprenticeship Training & Continuing Training For Union Journeyman Wiremen
The Jonesboro (Arkansas) Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee has partnered with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 1516 and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) to build a new 10,200-sqare-foot Training Facility located behind Local 1516 on East Highland. “This was built by the IBEW Local (1516) to provide additional classrooms and hands-on learning labs for the Apprenticeship Program and to provide continuing training to our Journeyman Wiremen,” a press release read. The Union Apprenticeship Program is also celebrating approval to move from a five-year/900-hour program to a four-year/720-hour program. That will shave off a full year for prospective Apprentices and allow them to take their Journeyman exams sooner.
