The New York City Department Of Consumer And Worker Protection Secures $3 Million For Workers In Settlement Agreements - More Than 2,430 Will Be Provided With More Than $3 Million In Restitution To Resolve Violations
In honor of Labor Day, New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Board Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga announced settlement agreements with four fast food companies - including Chipotle, to provide more than 2,430 Workers with more than $3 million in restitution to resolve violations of the City’s Fair Workweek Law. The DCWP’s investigation found the employers violated Workers’ Rights to stable and predictable schedules and wrongfully terminated Employees without just cause. Since May Day of this year, DCWP has held more than 170 Worker-focused education events, serving more than 18,000 New Yorkers. Workers are encouraged to review DCWP’s updated Workers’ Bill of Rights and to report any employer violations by filing a complaint at nyc.gov/workers.
