The New Jersey Labor Department & Thomas Edison State University Launch A $5 Million Apprenticeship Degree Program

NJBiz reports the New Jersey Labor Department (NYSDOL) and Thomas Edison State University (TESU) are joining forces to enhance Apprenticeship opportunities. NJDOL is investing $5 million to support the statewide, three-year Apprenticeship Degree Initiative. Key things to know: The three-year program (May 2025 through April 2028) is aimed at developing college-credit pathways for Registered Apprenticeship Programs; The effort integrates workforce training with academic credentials; TESU will conduct thorough evaluations of Registered Apprenticeship Programs to examine technical instruction and on-the-job training and will determine how they translate into college credits; and TESU will enroll Apprentices into Degree or Certificate Programs, offering scholarships to cover the difference between credits awarded for training and those required to complete academic programs. Enrolled Apprentices will also have access to a support system that includes educational guidance and life coaching.
