4,500 Members Represented By Communications Workers Of America/Graduate Student Employees Local 1104 At SUNY ‘Overwhelmingly Ratify’ New Three-Year Contract With New York State

Communications Workers of America/Graduate Student Employees Union, Local 1104 (CWA-GSEU) has ratified a new three-year contract with New York State. The pact, which runs until July 1st, 2026, won the overwhelming approval of Union Members who cast ballots. CWA/GSEU represents more than 4,500 Teaching Assistants and Graduate Assistants who are pursuing advanced degrees at campuses within the State of New York (SUNY) System. CWA/GSEU Members are employed in assisting SUNY Faculty and Administrators in a variety of teaching, research and administrative activities. The ratified contract includes raises in each year of the agreement, as well as increases to the minimum stipend paid to Unit Members. In addition, the contract includes a lump-sum bonus in the last year of the agreement and increases to Labor/Management funds for each year as well. CWA/GSEU Local 1104 President Mike Ippoliti said: “We are happy to announce our contract with the State has been overwhelmingly ratified. We appreciate all those who supported and stood by us during our pursuit of this contract. This agreement will significantly benefit (our) Members in higher education.”
