How Organized Labor Is ‘Helping Ramp Up’ More Than 1,500 Rallies That Will Take Place Across The U.S. On Saturday To Protest ‘Wannabe King’ Trump

Verity Stevenson at CBC News reports that while much of the national attention on ICE raids and the protests against them have been focused on the City of Los Angeles, several other major rallies also occurred in Cities across the U.S. this week. On Monday, demonstrations - organized in part by Labor Unions, were held in at least 13 Cities, including: Austin, Texas; San Francisco; New York City; Chicago; Boston; and Philadelphia. More rallies are planned to take place on Saturday with 1,500 No Kings Day of Defiance events scheduled across the country. The rallies are meant to counter President Donald Trump's planned Flag Day/Military/Birthday Parade in Washington, D.C. "The flag doesn't belong to President Trump. It belongs to us. We're not watching history happen. We're making it," the group wrote on its website. Boston Teachers' Union President Erik Berg called the planned actions "an important moment in organizing history," adding: "We have a Federal Government that is going after people who disagree with them politically. That's a threat to our Democracy. When faced with threats to Democracy, Labor Movements have always stood up and refused to be silent. We need to continue to do that."
