United University Professions Partners With ‘No Kings’ - ‘A Day Of Defiance’ Rally Set To Take Place Across The Country On June 14th, ‘Coinciding With Trump’s Very Big & Expensive Birthday/Military Parade’ In Washington, D.C.

(ALBANY, NEW YORK) – United University Professions (UUP) has signed on as an official mobilization partner for the nationwide No Kings Day of Defiance on June 14th - the same day as President Donald Trump’s very big, very expensive birthday/military parade in Washington, D.C.

Hundreds of No Kings rallies and protests are already scheduled in all 50 States to protest the new administration’s attacks on higher education, science, America’s Working Families and Democracy.

By becoming a No Kings partner, UUP joins more than 30 organizations that have partnered with the effort, including the American Federation of Teachers, 50501, Indivisible, the Communications Workers of America, the American Federation of Government Employees, the National Treasury Employees Union and the Professional Staff Congress/City University of New York, among others.

The rallies are being organized by No Kings, a grassroots organization led by Indivisible and a coalition of Pro-Democracy partners across the country.

The coalition is mobilizing volunteers in a nationwide show of defiance against what it calls the “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration."

“UUP is proud to sign on as a ‘No Kings’ partner and we’ll be urging our Members to attend No Kings rallies and events in their communities,” UUP President Fred Kowal said. “Free speech, due process, our constitutional protections and our Democracy are under attack and the only way to keep them is to fight back forcefully and peacefully. Attending a No Kings rally will send the same strong message that Abraham Lincoln sent in his Gettysburg address - that ‘government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.’”

Indivisible released a statement that read, in part: “Donald Trump wants tanks in the streets and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington - it rises up everywhere else. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism and show the world what Democracy actually looks like: People, united, refusing to be ruled.”
