Cleveland Museum Of Natural History Workers Look To ‘Go Union’ With AFSCME, ‘Cite Understaffing & Other Concerns In Push To Unionize’
Molly Walsh at The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Workers at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History are moving to Unionize, citing concerns about understaffing, wage transparency, and the need for a stronger voice in decision-making. The Employees from various departments - including education, visitor experience, collections and data visualization, say their desire to Unionize is about ensuring fair treatment and maintaining a safe, equitable workplace. The effort is being organized under American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Ohio Council 8. The Workers have submitted a letter to museum management, identifying themselves as CMNH Workers United, and requesting voluntary recognition of their Union. They have also filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board and are awaiting election dates.
