More Than 50,000 SEIU-Represented Los Angeles County Workers Conduct Two-Day ULP Strike, Citing 44 Alleged Labor Law Violations During Contract Bargaining Cycle

More than 50,000 Los Angeles County Workers represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 are winding up a two-day Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Strike that began on Monday (April 29th), citing 44 alleged Labor Law violations during this contract bargaining cycle. It's the first time all of its 55,000 Members are on Strike, the Union said. The Associated Press reported the walkout caused closures or disruptions at libraries, health care clinics and administrative offices across the Nation's most populous county. The Public Workers perform a wide range of critical job functions for the county, including Mental Health Care Professionals, Social Workers, Parks and Recreation Staff, Custodians and much more who serve 10 million residents. Throughout negotiations, the county has flagrantly violated the law by refusing to bargain in good faith, surveilling and retaliating against Members engaged in Union activity and restricting Union Organizers’ access to worksites, SEIU said.
