Graduate Workers Employed At University Of Rochester ‘Begin Strike For Fair’ Union Vote Process

WHAM in Rochester reports on the turbulent labor times that are continuing at the University of Rochester where Graduate Workers started their indefinite Strike on Monday (April 21st), claiming the school has refused to allow a fair process for them to vote on forming a Union. “These bad faith actors are scared to even look us in the eye and tell us why they're attacking our right to a Union vote," Grad Worker George Elkind said in a statement. "But today, we're on Strike to win back what we know to be our right as Workers: A fair process to form our Union.” The University has acknowledged its refusing to enter into a private election agreement, but said it's not preventing or interfering with Graduate Students from pursuing recognition through a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election, which has certified Unions at other schools.
