The National AFL-CIO President ‘Applauds The Introduction Of Bipartisan Legislation To Reverse’ Trump’s Attack On Workers’ Rights

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler says the Labor Movement is applauding the introduction of bipartisan legislation in the House of Representatives to reverse the Trump Administration’s Executive Order that aimed to strip Collective Bargaining Rights from hundreds of thousands of Federal Workers.

The bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act aims to bring back collective bargaining for all Federal Agencies impacted by President Donald Trump’s order.

If enacted, the legislation would effectively reverse Trump’s actions, which terminated a majority of the agencies’ Collective Bargaining Agreements, citing national security concerns.

National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said:

Donald Trump’s Executive Order would end collective bargaining for hundreds of thousands of Federal Workers, silencing their voices and ripping up their contracts.

This is blatant retaliation for unions challenging the Administration’s illegal attacks on Working People and strikes a blow to every American’s fundamental right to freedom of speech and association.

There are 70% of Americans and nearly nine in 10 young people who support Unions - no one voted to attack the freedom to organize with our Co-Workers for a better life.

We commend the leadership of U.S. Representatives Jared Golden and Brian Fitzpatrick for using Congress’ power to reverse this blatantly illegal, Anti-Worker power grab.

The Labor Movement is 100% behind this Bill and we call on every member of Congress -Democrat and Republican - to take a stand in support of our fundamental rights by backing this critical legislation.
