Springfield, Missouri’s Department of Workforce And Economic Vitality Receives Grant To Expand Pre-Apprenticeship Job Training In Education, Health Care & Construction
Christopher Replogle at Springfield’s (Missouri) KYTV reports the Springfield Department of Workforce and Economic Vitality has received $150,000 to expand job training. The grant is for three job sectors: education, health care, and construction. It allows the department to serve 50 Pre-Apprentices who will then enter Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Officials say the Pre-Apprenticeship Grant will benefit the local economy and address significant workforce shortages in those three industries. “This will just continue to help feed that pipeline of talent coming up, through high school - and, you know, young adults and help fill these gaps that we are currently experiencing,” said City Official Kathrine Proctor. The Pre-Apprenticeship Grant period begins April 1st, pending final approval of the funds from the Springfield City Council.
