The National AFL-CIO and several of its Affiliate Unions have released statements regarding the tragic disaster that occurred earlier this week at Washington, D.C.’s National Airport:

Our entire Union Family is devastated by the horrific aircraft collision near Washington National Airport Wednesday night.

While details are still emerging on this tragedy, our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the loved ones of the Pilots, Flight Attendants and all passengers on board - as well as the Unions who we know at this early stage lost beloved Members, including the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA).

The National AFL-CIO expresses our profound gratitude to the heroic Fire Fighters (IAFF) Members and all First Responders on the scene.

We are in close contact with the Transportation Trades Department (TTD) in the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy to support our Union Family.
