The AFGE, AFT & Watchdog Groups Sue The Trump Administration Over DOGE

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) joined Watchdog Groups in filing lawsuits this week against the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), arguing it violates a law requiring any advice presented by Federal Advisory Committees be objective and accessible to the public. The lawsuits charge President Donald Trump and the Office of Management and Budget are violating the Federal Advisory Committee Act because DOGE’s members do not have balanced viewpoints, their meetings are held in secret and its records are not available to the public. “AFGE will not stand idly by as a secretive group of ultra-wealthy individuals with major conflicts of interest attempt to deregulate themselves and give their own companies sweetheart Government contracts while firing Civil Servants and dismantling the institutions designed to serve the American People,” AFGE National President Everett Kelley said. “This fight is about fairness, accountability and the integrity of our Government. Federal Employees are not the problem - they are the solution. They deserve to have their voices heard in decisions that affect their work, their agencies and the public they serve.” AFT President Randi Weingarten said: “FACA exists so that unelected billionaires and their businessman sidekicks can’t turn the Federal Government upside down, working behind closed doors with no oversight, accountability or input from people who have the most at stake. DOGE must be ordered to come out of the shadows and comply with the law before the sweeping, self-serving plans of billionaires upend the Federal Government and cause irreparable damage in the lives of Working People.”
