IAM-Represented Workers Employed At An IKEA Distribution Center In Maryland Vote To Continue Their Strike
(PERRYVILLE, MARYLAND) - Approximately 320 Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local I460/District 4, who work at the IKEA Distribution Center in Perryville, Maryland, remain on Strike for a fair contract after rejecting the company’s latest proposal that was made just before the end of 2024.
IAM Local I460 Members, who began their Strike at midnight on Friday, November 15th (2024), are continuing to fight for fair wages and seniority protections to ensure a just and respectful workplace.
“Our Members are holding the line at IKEA,” IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President David Sullivan said. “The company has to return with an offer that most Members can get behind. One day longer, one day stronger is our mantra as we fight for justice at the bargaining table.”
Critical issues in the dispute include:
Wages: IAM Local I460 Members seek wages that keep pace with the cost of living and reflect their contributions to IKEA’s success.
Seniority: IAM Local I460 Members want to protect seniority rights for everyone to ensure fair treatment and prevent favoritism.
The IAM is one of North America’s largest and most diverse Industrial Trade Unions, representing approximately 600,000 Active and Retired Members in the aerospace, defense, airlines, railroad, transit, health care, automotive and other industries.
