Indiana University Introduces New Teacher Apprenticeship Program
Anna Darling at WXIN-TV Indianapolis reports people who are looking to become Teachers in the State of Indiana will have a new pathway to get there starting in 2025. The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) recently approved Indiana University as a group sponsor for a new Registered Apprenticeship Program. About three years ago, the USDOL approved K-12 Teachers as an occupation which is able to have Apprenticeships. The University said this will integrate on-the-job training with academic instruction and professional mentoring. For example, someone working as a Para-Professional or a Teacher’s Assistant at a K-12 School working to get their education degree and teacher’s license can enter the program to use their working experience toward their degree without giving up their job.
