More Than $1 Million Awarded To Several Rochester-Area Organizations For Apprenticeship Programs

WROC-TV reports the New York Department of Labor (NYSDOL) has awarded more than $1 million to four Rochester area organizations for Apprenticeship Programs.  Those receiving awards were: Foodlink, Incorporated - $300,000; Direct Entry Pre-Apprenticeship - $162,000; The Eastman Kodak Company - $285,000; The Rochester Tooling and Machining Institute/Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association - $195,000; and The NYSARC Ontario County Chapter - $90,000.  Apprenticeships have long been associated with the Construction Building Trades, but now other industries are adopting them.  More Workers are changing jobs later in life, and they need the security of a job right away, Officials said.  An Apprenticeship, the NYSDOL said, is both paid job training and Higher Education.
