“Stellantis Has Declared War On The American Working Class” - The United Auto Workers To Hold Strike Authorization Votes Against Stellantis
Ian Kullgren and Gabrielle Coppola at Bloomberg report the United Auto Workers (UAW) will ask their Members to green light a strike against Stellantis NV, escalating an already tense standoff with one of the world’s largest car manufacturers. The UAW will hold Strike Authorization Votes at several local Union Chapters in the coming days, seeking to pressure the company into abiding by investment stipulations in the agreement that ended a six-week Strike last year, UAW President Shawn Fain said. “Stellantis has declared war on the American Working Class,” he said. It was the latest show of force by the Union Leader who’s increasingly soured on Stellantis, the maker of Chrysler and Dodge cars, in addition to European brands like Fiat. Earlier this week, the UAW filed Unfair Labor Practice Charges with the National Labor Relations Board, accusing Stellantis of stonewalling plans on product commitments it made in last year’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
