Audubon Society Workers Reach Tentative Agreement For ‘First’ Union Contract
(NEW YORK CITY) - Members of the Bird Union-Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 1180 have reached a tentative agreement with the National Audubon Society for a first Union contract, avoiding a Strike that had been planned for this week.
This tentative agreement was reached after more than two years of negotiations, supported by mobilization of Union Members across the country.
The three-year deal covers 260 Workers, who will meet to review the agreement before holding a ratification vote.
The Bird Union said in a statement: We are incredibly proud of our fellow Bird Union-CWA Local 1180 Members and their solidarity that has sustained us through more than two years of negotiations. For every Member who has walked a practice picket line, spoken out for the contract they deserved or joined their Co-Workers for a Union action, you built this. In negotiating and organizing for a first contract our Members have built a foundation for the future of all Audubon Workers to have a voice on the job."
