LABOR NEWS UPDATE: A Boeing Strike ‘Is Looking More Likely’ As Union-Represented Workers ‘Are Anticipated To Reject’ The Contract Offer
The Associated Press reports the risk of a Strike at Boeing appears to be growing as International Association of Machinists (IAM)-represented Factory Workers are displeased with a contract offer the IAM negotiated with the Aircraft Manufacturer. The IAM Local represents 33,000 Boeing Workers and Union Officials predict the Union’s Membership will vote against a deal that includes 25% raises over four years - and a promise the company's next new airplane will be built by Union Members in Washington State. Workers are scheduled to vote today (Thursday, September 12th) on the Boeing offer and, if they reject it, whether to go on Strike beginning Friday (September 13th).
