28 Individuals Who Perform Janitorial Work For conEdison In New York City ‘Go Union,’ Join The Utility Workers Union Of America
Stephanie West at LaborPress reports Janitors employed by Nelson Services who work in conEdison Generating Stations have voted to join the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA). “We look forward to working with this group to address their concerns,” UWUA President James Slevin said. “This important vote is the first step toward rectifying the disparities these Nelson Services Workers are experiencing in comparison to their colleagues, including getting paid on time and receiving the paychecks they’re owed.” The Unit consists of 28 Workers who perform janitorial work in New York City in a utility setting. These Workers reached out to UWUA regarding unfair treatment from their employer. The UWUA represents 45,000 Members who are employed in America’s Utility Sectors.
