MedPage Today reports Pharmacists and Technicians employed at a Walgreens location in Vancouver, Washington have filed for an election to form a Union with The Pharmacy Guild, making history as the first store in the nationwide chain to do so.  The Pharmacy Guild is an organizing campaign in collaboration with International Association of Machinists (IAM) Healthcare, a union of Health Care Professionals within the IAM.  Staff at the Vancouver store also are making regional history as the first group in the state to organize with the Union. Workers cite the pressure of heavy workloads paired with understaffing as a core motivation for joining together to enact change.  "We care deeply for our patients - their health and safety is our top priority in this drive to Unionize," the Vancouver Walgreens Workers said in a group statement. "We are united with a strong majority to make positive change."
