Arizona Bookmans’ Workers File Petition To Form A Union With The UFCW - ‘If Successful, Staff Would Make History As The First Bookseller In The State To Form A Union’

Retail Workers employed at a Bookmans Entertainment Exchange location in Tucson, Arizona have filed a petition to join United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 99.  If successful, Staff would make history as the first bookseller in the State to form a Union.  Bookmans is a chain store with five locations in Arizona that buys and sells used goods, including books, music, movies and games.  Organizing Workers say after the company suddenly laid off the entire marketing department without prior notice in January, they realized how little job security they actually had.  Additionally, the regular bonuses, paid time off, quality wages and other benefits that initially drew more tenured Staff to Bookmans several years ago have long since vanished, further motivating Workers to join together to make change.
