Maui Now reports 25 students recently graduated from the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Fund’s Career Connections program, a six-week Construction Internship Program held in Kapolei, Oahu. The students participated in a paid Summer internship at major construction projects across the State with 10 General Contractors. Receiving their completion certificates, they can now advance in the Trades’ profession, starting with direct entry into the Hawaii Carpenters’ Apprenticeship Program. Makana Dayton, a 2024 High School graduate, said: “I gained a lot of knowledge and experience from this program. It wasn’t easy, but it opened a lot of doors and experience for me. I’m hoping to stay in the Trade and join the Union, as I have a passion for this work. This program really gives you a taste of working in the real world and learning about this Trade.”
